(Lanka-e-News- 26.May.2016, 8.10PM) Some of those who moved heaven and earth , and even were ready to sacrifice their lives for the brutal corrupt Medamulana in order to keep him installed in power ,without helping even as much as with a drop of water to bring about the salutary change on January 8 th , are now questioning ‘Is this the change promised ?’ Certainly this is being asked not in the best interests of the country or the people but to muddle up their sane thinking , and to mislead them .
Hereunder is a report that answers their question .
The incumbent president Maithripala Sirisena who was in the vanguard of the change on 8 th January is even now fulfilling the promises honorably he gave then. He is proving his mettle in deed silently without making a huge din through mere use of words.
For the first time Sri Lanka’s leader was invited to attend the G -7 conference which is held in Japan with the participation of 7 main technically leading countries . This invitation was extended solely and wholly to demonstrate their respect and regard they have for the Sri Lankans who succeeded in toppling a despotic corrupt regime and making the rainbow revolution to emerge victorious on 8 th January.
President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena who led the rainbow revolution then , flew to Japan yesterday (25) to attend the conference . He left by flight No. G.K. 348 of Emirates airways , and was accompanied by UNP and SLFP ministers Mangala, Ravi, Malik, Mahinda Amaraweera and Naveen .
It is worthy of mention , they traveled in an ordinary passenger plane from Colombo to Japan via Singapore , and the president as well as the ministers travelled in this passenger plane mingled with the other ordinary passengers.
The Sri Lankan VIPs had to wait for 4 1/ 2 hours at Singapore airport before taking the flight to Japan , and arrived in Japan the following morning.
To those stupid self seeking scoundrels who are asking ‘is this the change ?’ , we wish to remind lest they have forgotten , the Medamulana corrupt despot when he recently left for Uganda to embrace another cruel despot , asked for funds from the government to pay for a hotel since he had to wait for fours at the Dubai airport . He wanted to spend that 4 hours waiting time too in a luxury hotel. Medamulana made his request by letter to the foreign ministry.
The government of course acting sensibly giving priority to conservation of public funds unlike during Medamulana’s era , refused to make the disbursement. This Medamulana corrupt despot ‘weeped and wailed’ demanding this payment out of public funds despite the fact he was touring Uganda aimlessly , meaninglessly and purposelessly on a mission that served no useful purpose for the country.
How can Medamulana ‘s request be granted who was on an aimless , useless , purposeless and worthless tour ? when the president and five ministers attending a most useful and purposeful official conference are not claiming a cent , and were prepared to wait in the Airport for 4 1/ 2 hours until the next flight took them to Japan.
It may seem incredible but is true , when Medamulana brutal corrupt ex president toured Japan during his reign , he never travelled in the ordinary passenger class . He chartered two separate planes to do his tour. Recently when the Sri Lankan Airlines affairs were debated in parliament , the prime minister (P.M.) revealed with facts , figures and documents that when the corrupt brutal Medamulanas toured overseas , they went not by one but two chartered flights. This was to use the other in case one falls into disrepair .
What’s more ? those two planes were kept stationed at the destination airports idling until Medamulana concluded his tour. It can be imagined what a ruthlessly and recklessly profligate individual Medamulana was despite being a head of a State stricken with poverty. Planes have been used by him like hiring cabs to the detriment of the country. The 7 countries participating in the G -7 conference are America, Germany , France, Britain, Canada, Italy and Japan .7 other countries have also been invited. SL is included along with countries like Bangla Desh and Vietnam . One day has been set aside for the additional countries.
What is most remarkable is while the heads of all the countries (14) were arriving for the conference by chartered flights , it was only SL that was an exception- the SL state head and his group arriving sans chartered flight. Owing to this , the red carpet welcome that was to be accorded to the heads of the countries participating in the conference had to be changed by the organizers because of SL. All because the Sri Lankan president and his group disembarked from an ordinary passenger plane mingled with ordinary passengers ! They had discovered a new method !
This ‘change’ attracted the attention of the Japanese media . That is, they greatly admired and extolled the SL head of State and the ministers for the profound concern showed by them to the 400 ,000 people (approximately) of SL who have fallen victims to floods and landslides .
While the government of SL has requested aid from foreign countries , the head of the state and his ministers who were truly overwhelmed with grief and unable to bear the sorrow of the tragedy of monumental proportions have instead of spending many millions on chartered flights preferred to arrive in Japan by an ordinary passenger plane .
This tour of the SL head and his group attaching top priority to austerity is yet another answer to those who ask ‘is this the change the people expected on 8 th January?’ Halting the profligate expenditure of the rulers is indeed a change .
It will be best if the media develop the spine to openly admire and extol if something good is done , as well as condemn and criticize openly if a wrong is committed.
Derana the notorious self centered media Institution that is day in and day out screaming against the withdrawal of the military security of Medamulana corrupt brute even after being fully aware it is he who surely and wantonly drove the country into irretrievable doom and gloom , should instead , if it has even an ounce of love for the country truly report to the people not of the military security withdrawal done duly and legally , rather about the commitment and dedication of the present leaders who are determined to stamp out profligacy , and are sincerely concerned about the masses. It is high time these hypocritical ,selfish , self seeking media coolies of SL reform and learn to show a greater and sincere concern for their own country much more than the Japanese media showed towards SL .

(Lanka-e-News -26.May.2016, 11.45PM) 139 high ranking officers who held various posts under the Rajapakse administration , and are still in those positions in State Boards and authorities have decided to resign in protest against the on going investigations into the financial frauds , bribery and corruption charges , based on reports.
This protest was intimated to the president , and the latter before leaving for Japan yesterday had ordered to halt the arrests that were to be made today (26) . Six individuals including a former chairman of the Sri Lanka tourism promotion Authority , Directors of the board and an additional secretary were to be arrested today on charges of grave financial frauds .
These officers who were to be arrested said , they were notified to report to the FCID today , however yesterday night , the FCID officers had phoned them and stated it is not necessary for them to come to the FCID.
Among those to be arrested is an additional secretary of the Prime Minister’s secretariat , Ms. Hema Dharmawardena.
She was an ex secretary of the economic development ministry Basil Rajapakse. In addition , Bhashwara Senanka Gunaratne ( he was directly involved in Mahinda Rajapakse’s election campaign ,and a most corrupt individual about whom Lanka e news has exposed umpteen times) a former chairman of the authority; Director General D.S. Jayaratne , and members of the board , namely , Ranasinghage Semasinghe , Don Chandrasiri and Amitha Kithsiri Ranawake are among them.
The administrative officers’ association had made an organized effort to obstruct the arrest of these corrupt officers (male and female). A number of officers of this association are linked to various fraudulent and corrupt activities., and among them a great many are certainly going to be liable because there is cogent and copious evidence to prove their crimes, sources say.
This officers’ mafia that is operated by the joint opposition is constituted of ex president’s secretariat chief of staff Gamini Senarath, Public service commission secretary Gamini Seneviratne, Government administrative officers association president Ranjith Ariyaratne and ministry of public administration secretary Dadallage.
Following the investigations based on the statements recorded of the afore -stated accused , they were charged under the General growth property Act. The investigations had revealed they have been directly involved in the frauds , or have connived at them or they have as state officers not taken action to prevent the crimes.
The Attorney General’s department has given instructions to the FCID to take these officers into custody, but because of the president’s orders the police had been intercepted , and no action could be taken by them.
Political analysts are of the view , because of the intervention of the president , all the investigations into frauds and corruption are being foiled. The allegations leveled at the police that only those who have been hand picked based on political and other reasons are being arrested , are being borne out by this action of the president , the analysts point out .
The president who solemnly vowed that he would establish good governance and came to power , if he is to make an abject surrender to threats and intimidations posed by crooks and the corrupt , and takes steps to safeguard them, the officers of the AG’s department and the police officers who undertook these investigations risking their lives are certainly going to be bitterly disappointed and disillusioned.
That will be a new encouragement and experience to the rogues.. If 139 rogues are to resign from their government posts on behalf of rogues , the best course of action is for the government to gladly relieve these crooks of their jobs , while also depriving them of the pension .
The president should steadfastly stand by the people for good governance who installed him in power, without betraying the trust they reposed in him . He must replace the crooks with non corrupt patriotic indviduals and prove there are four fold more such individuals who love the country.
