'Mangala is a troublemaker – the President
Details Created on Friday, 25 October 2013 04:22 Category: General

mahinda_sad_mangala_LNW_24.10.2013
The President has recently told a few trusted heads of security forces that former Foreign Affairs Minister and UNP Matara District parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera was a troublemaker as he was instigating quiet opposition MPs into speaking against the government and was discussing with disgruntled government ministers to conspire to topple the government.
The security heads have agreed with the President’s statement. The person who gave us the information said that the security heads are now looking at experimenting with various methods to address the President’s problem in order to score points with him.
The person reminded the fate that befell journalist Richard de Soyza during the end of January in 1990 when he wrote a play – Who is this? What is he doing? (Me kwda? Monavada karanne?). Then President Ranasinghe Premadasa had told then DIG Ronnie Gunasinghe, “Isn’t this fellow a troublemaker Ronnie?” Ronnie Gunasinghe and then Defence Minister Ranjan Wijeratne have at the time agreed with Premadasa’s statement.
Richard was abducted within three weeks after the President’s statement and was killed on February 18, 1990.
The person who gave us the story also said that there’s always a possibility of history repeating itself. However, given that the person who gave the order also died within three years, it is evident that the person who gives the command is also killed eventually.

'Mangala complains of plot to assassinate him
Details Created on Thursday, 24 October 2013 12:47 Category: General

mangala_10.24.2013_LNW
UNP Matara District parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera raising a privilege issue in parliament has said he has reliable information about a plot to assassinate him in the run-up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting ( CHOGM) to be held in Colombo from the 15th - 18th November.
He has said according to intelligence reports prepared by the State Intelligence Service a well-known contract killer called ‘Chaku’ and another underworld criminal called ‘Kota Gamini’ have been assigned the task of carrying out his murder.
Samaraweera was recently arrested by the police for instigating an attack on a peaceful protest walk staged by a rival faction of the same party in Matara to call for the resignation of party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe following the humiliating defeat the party suffered at recent provincial elections.
Samaraweera said the assassination is timed ‘to kill two birds with one stone’ to silence the “vociferous critic of the regime” both inside and outside Parliament and to put the blame on the rival UNP faction for the murder and further divide the opposition party.
The MP in an apparent reference to the Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has said the “master mind behind this conspiracy is a senior Defence Official who has been behind many of the political killings, white van abductions and assault on journalists during the last several years.”
The MP has also complained that the Secretary General (SG) of parliament has deleted a section of a statement the MP made in the chambers.
According to Samaraweera, the censored paragraph speaks of a VIP who recently talked of the need ‘to shut me (the MP) up’ in front of several senior cabinet Ministers.
“The standing orders of this house prevent me from naming those concerned but I will be lodging a formal complaint tomorrow with the Police with all the details of this conspiracy,” the purportedly censored paragraph has said.
“Why has this been censored? Under what standing order? Who is the SG trying to protect? The SG must be looking after the interests of Parliamentarians and not senior officials in the defence sector,” he has questioned.
Citing the Lattimer House principles, Samaraweera has threatened to make a formal complaint to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Union if the said paragraph is omitted from parliamentary records.
“The Parliament must protect the integrity of the legislature without pandering to the interest of the executive,” he has said.
Samaraweera has also requested the Speaker to provide him with adequate security including the allocation of local police guard provided to the residences of MPs which he says he had been deprived of since the inception of the present Parliament.

'Sham death sentence to Tangalle killers for Prince Charles’ benefit!
Details Created on Thursday, 17 October 2013 11:38 Category: Exclusive
_LNW_17.10.2013.jpg)
Against_Killed_British_Tourist_KhurramShaikh_(charls_exclusive)_LNW_17.10.2013
Yet another government sham is being planned under which Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Sampath Chandrapushpa Vidanapathirana and the other six accused in the killing of British tourist Khurram Shaikh and the raping of his female companion are to be indicted today (17) and the court hearing against them is to conclude before the Colombo CHOGM, with the accused being ‘sentenced to death.’
The investigation into this crime which took place on 24 December 2011 has made no progress up to now, and even the main accused was bailed out and had functioned as the chairman of Tangalle PS. The brother of the deceased, Khurram Shaikh, and the MP for his area, Rochdale, had visited Sri Lanka and expressed their dissatisfaction over the progress of the investigation. Although they sought an appointment to discuss the matters with the president, he had intentionally avoided them.
Chief guest of the Colombo CHOGM, Prince Charles, who will be representing the Queen of Britain, recently told the media that he would make use of his visit to raise the killing of Khurraim Shaikh with the Sri Lankan government. Furthermore, prime minister David Cameron has told British parliament that the matter would top his agenda too, during his visit to the island.
Alarmed by these developments, president Mahinda Rajapaksa and his government have planned this deception, under which this criminal case will be called by the Tangalle high court today in order to serve indictments by using the attorney general’s powers, without the conducting of a preliminary hearing, which was to take place at the Colombo chief magistrate’s court, to which it was transferred from the Tangalle magistrate’s court. The attorney general had recommended the case be taken up by a three member trial-at-bar, but his recommendation had been cancelled on the orders of the president.
Accordingly, once the indictments are served today, the hearing will continue and the accused would be sentenced to death before the CHOGM commences. The case will be taken up in absentia of the Russian female companion of Khurram Shaik, who is the key witness.
Hinting about the verdict, the president has told the Tangalle PS chairman, “Accept the ruling that will be given and go inside. In a few days I will use my powers and free you.” On this assurance by the president, the accused have agreed to accept the sentence. The president has also promised them all facilities during their incarceration.
In the end, the PS chairman and the other accused will come out, receiving a presidential pardon, while unanswered questions about fate of the empty T-56 cartridges found from the crime scene, persons who had brought the T-56 rifles, their connections with MP Namal Rajapaksa and as to how Khurram Shaikh’s female companion became a virgin once again will remain so forever.

'Plot to assassinate me –Says Mangala Samaraweera in parliament

(Lanka-e-News-24.Oct.2013,4.30PM)
Mr. Speaker,
I have reliable information about a plot to assassinate me in the run-up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting ( CHOGM) to be held in Colombo from the 15th - 18th November.
According to intelligence reports prepared by the SIS ( State Intelligence Service) a well known contract killer called 'Chaku' and another underworld criminal called ' Kota Gamini' have been assigned the task of carrying out my murder. According to the warped criminal minds of those who want me killed, this is a propitious time to do so , as everyone will assume that the killing carried out just before so many heads of state are in attendance, is to embarrass the government . The blame is to be squarely put on those who are waging a political and media mud slinging war against me since the recent incident in Matara. The conspirators hope 'to kill two birds with one stone' through this insidious act: on one hand a vociferous critic of the regime, both inside and outside Parliament will be silenced and on the other, they think they can further divide the opposition by putting the blame on sections of the UNP.
Mr. Speaker, the most important paragraph of my statement has been deleted and this proves beyond any doubt that the freedom of speech of even MPs is curtailed under this regime. When I met you in your chambers at 4pm last afternoon, you consented to the whole statement but later in the evening I received a censored version with the most important para censored. Is the Secretary General now the censor general of Parliament? On what grounds has the following para been censored?
However, I can, with responsibility state that the master mind behind this conspiracy is a senior Defence Official who has been behind many of the political killings, white van abductions and assault on journalists during the last several years.
Why has this been censored? Under what standing order? Who is the SG trying to protect? The SG must be looking after the interests of Parliamentarians and not senior officials in the defence sector.
The following has also been censored.
I have also been told that a very important VIP recently talked of the need ' to shut me up' in front of several senior cabinet Ministers. The standing orders of this house prevent me from naming those concerned but I will be lodging a formal complaint tomorrow with the Police with all the details of this conspiracy.
This high handed act by the SG is a direct violation of the Commonwealth Charter and the Lattimer house principles.
V. FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
We are committed to peaceful, open dialogue and the free flow of information.....and to enhancing democratic traditions and strengthening democratic processes.
VI. SEPARATION OF POWERS
We recognise the importance of maintaining the integrity of the roles of the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary.........
If you expunge the relevant para, I will make a formal complaint to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Union. The Parliament must protect the integrity of the legislature without pandering to the interest of the executive.
As the custodian of the safety and security of all the members of this house, Mr. Speaker, I request you to urgently intervene in this matter with those concerned. I also request you to provide me with adequate security including the allocation of local police guard provided to the residences of MPs which I have been deprived of since the inception of the present Parliament.
Thank you.

'Regime to get SL underworld marksman released from Indian jail spending Rs. 25,00,000
Thushara_Perera_Wattala_EJ_LeN_23.10.2013

(Lanka-e-News-23.Oct.2013, 5.30PM) The ruling Rajapakse regime is in dire need of am expert marksman of the underworld for its own purposes , and is hence somehow trying to get a Sri Lankan underworld criminal freed from the Indian jail where he is now incarcerated, according to reports reaching Lanka e news inside information division.
The prisoner so sought to be released is Thudelle Gamini alias Chooti Gamini an underworld expert marksman. Chooti Gamini fled to India after shooting and killing IP Douglas Nimal and his wife at Homagama. He had committed these murders at the behest of Kimbula Ele Guna , an underworld criminal leader.
Thereafter both of them escaped to India. Now they are in an Indian prison supposedly due to a crime they had committed there. It is the opinion of the underworld members and the defense division that Thudelle Gamini is capable of shooting using a T 56 weapon or a pistol better than a soldier of the Forces. According to defense intelligence division , he is a hired assassin and so far he has committed more than 50 murders .
In any event the ‘contract’ to somehow get this criminal out has been entrusted along with a payment of Rs. 25,00,000 to SLFP organizer of Wattala and Gampaha district cum Presidential coordinating secretary, Thushara Perera . The latter is well noted for illicit immigration and emigration operations between India and Sri Lanka by boat. He was a defector from the UNP to SLFP. Thushara was also in prison over the killing of a millionaire businessman , Stanis Fernando ( Stanley) of Sangetikulama , Anamaduwa. Believe it or not ! this criminal (like many others) is now a Presidential coordinating secretary.
Lanka e news reported before that the Rajapakse regime is readying for a political murder ( Read- ‘danger signal regime’s bigwig …………’)

Danger signal..! Regime’s bigwig gives contract to murder a politico

Political_Target_LeN_23.10.2013
(Lanka-e-News-23.Oct.2013, 5.30PM) A murder contract has been entrusted to an underworld criminal by the regime’s top echelons to liquidate a politico who has become a pest to the Rajapakse regime, based on confidential information seeping through to Lanka e news inside information division. The secret report in this connection had been prepared by the State intelligence service (SIS).
The report mentions that Neelan alias Chakku alias Habaralaya an underworld leader of Armour street is these days gathering information regarding the targeted victim in pursuance of this contract.
Neelan the criminal is an assistant of a brother in law (who had left the aviation service ) of Thel Bala another underworld criminal . Neelan has three murder charges pending against him. In 2005 when he was arrested by the police STF with an illegal firearm , because of his political influence he was released.
The politico who is targeted for the assassination is a senior who had been assessed as a potential pest who can create a lot of problems for the ruling regime in the not too distant future. The Lankan regime has planned this political murder in a manner and at an appropriate time when no one would suspect , just before the commonwealth heads of government conference.
The Rajapakse regime is to take advantage of the opportunity when no one would believe that just before the commonwealth conference the regime would commit a political murder, according to information reaching Lanka e news inside information division.

''Not only will I continue to fight against the Rajapaksa' -Special Media Release By Mangala Samaraweera

(Lanka-e-News-15.Oct.2013, 8.45AM) In the guise of investigating a clash between UNP supporters and participants of a Rajapaksa/ Rajamahendran sponsored march in Matara on 5 October, the Matara police led by SSP Deshabandu Tennakon initiated a wich hunt against senior UNP activists of the district.
In fact, I personally handed in 24 members of my party on Sunday 6th October at the request of the police, although I have photographic and video evidence to prove that they did not indulge in any violent activities during this confrontation where five people were shot including an innocent bystander who the doctors say will be partially paralyzed for rest of his life.
The police including the said SSP thanked me several times over the week for my cooperation and I have been in and out of the SSP's office during last week as the rest of my supporters continued unabated.
According to the video evidence available it can be proven beyond any doubt that 30 out of the 37 UNP activists who have been arrested so far have not participated at any violent activity at all and their only crime seems to had been staunch and loyal members of the United National Party.
The police intelligence are in possession of video footage of the club wielding thugs of the Rajapaksa / Rajamahendran march and these videos clearly show the organisers of this march distributing clubs from a parked vehicle at the very start of this march that morning. However, only seven of the club wielding goons have so far been arrested.
Jaliyah Jayawardana, senior vice president of UNP Matara ex-co was brutally beaten up by a group of thugs led by Herman Gunaratne, immediately prior to his shooting spree and Jaliya's life was saved by the timely intervention of a lotus flower seller nearby who got down an ambulance to send Jaliya to hospital. Jaliya Jayawardana was arrested and chained to his bed while receiving treatments at the Aparekka Ayurvedic Hospital while Sunil, the flower seller, is now languishing in the Matara remand prison with my other supporters! None of the club wielding thugs who are easily identifiable from the photographs available have yet been arrested.
As I informed parliament last Thursday the impunity extended to these thugs is perhaps because of the presence of Presidential Security Division personal in this march. In fact, we have reliable information that some of these PSD personal in civilian clothes who were attacked by enraged UNP supporters received treatment for minor injuries secretly at the Matara Army camp.
It is in this context that I met SSP Tennakon several times over the week after giving two statements to the police voluntaraliy last Sunday (13) morning. It was only last Saturday (12) that I met SSP in the morning and again DIG Chandana Wickramaratne along with the SSP the same afternoon and they thanked me once more for the cooperation I have extended to the investigation and they promised to conduct the inquiry impartially and fairly. They also promised to arrest the thugs from the other side if we provide them with a list of names. At this point I pointed out to the police that my job is not to play the role of a police informant and the police should be able to identify and locate these people with the same level of enthusiasm that they displayed in pursuing my UNP supporters in Matara.
It is in this context that I was amazed to hear from media that the Matara has sought a warrant for my arrest.
I will be presenting myself to Matara courts today(15) at 9.00 a.m. Not only will I continue to fight against the Rajapaksa / Rajamahendran sponsored witch hunt against my supporters in the Matara district but I will also continue with extra vigour to expose the true nature of this evil and despotic regime.

'Gota orders arrest and remand of Mangala Samaraweera : MaRa gives contrary instructions
(Lanka-e-News-13.Oct.2013.11.30PM) The criminal defense secretary of Sri Lanka , Gotabaya Rajapkse has instructed Matara division SSP Deshbandu Tennekoon to arrest Mangala Samaraweera M.P. tomorrow morning (14) , according to reports reaching Lanka e news inside information division.
Accordingly, Mangala Samarweera had been informed by the Matara police to be present at the station at 8.30 in the morning (14) today.
Deshabandu had recorded three complaints against Mangala. A statement of Maithri Gunaratne and that of his son had been recorded , while the other is that of an individual who has supposedly been at the meeting held at the office prior to staging the march of courageous determination, and had revealed what Mangala allegedly said to the organizers at the meeting. This is a false statement recorded of the individual purportedly told by Mangala to halt the march of Kili Maharaja by fair or foul means , even by hurling bombs.
Based on reports reaching Lanka e news inside information division , already the B report has been prepared founded on this bogus statement to arrest and remand Mangala Samaraweera M.P. Under Penal code invoking sections 32 and 138 , charges have been filed on the ground that Samaraweera had aided and given authority to an unlawful assembly .
The SSP had also arranged for a search of Mangala’s Matara office after obtaining a court order following his arrest . Meanwhile the police had requested 34 divisional organizers of the UNP district office to be present at the Matara police station at 8.30 a.m. on the 14 th (today). Consequently their householders are driven into anguish and dismay .
According to Lanka e news inside information reports , while Gota had given instructions to the SSP to take Mangala into custody , Medamulana MaRa had on the other hand told the IGP not to arrest Mangala as that would be militating against the government under the circumstances. However , MaRa is notorious locally and internationally for his duplicity : using his forked tongue most advantageously and selfishly – croaking out one thing from his own throat , and slitting another’s throat on the sly at the same time .
While Sajith Premadasa by falsely claiming Mangala as a terrorist was providing the necessary illicit background to the despicable and diabolic conspiracy of Gota to arrest him , kili Maharaja took special pains to give the maximum publicity to it .
Man is a wolf to man is a common adage , but this is an insult to wolf for they are kind among themselves unlike humans.
