Inamaluwa Thero incites religious hatred : ‘don’t make my blood boil’ says he; Dambulla mosque damaged
(Lanka-e-News-20.April.2012, 11.50PM) The Muslim mosque situated at the center of the Dambulla Town was subject to a petrol bomb attack this early morning.(20). Though there had been no harm done to lives of people the mosque has been slightly damaged.
A request had been made by Matale district UPFA M . P. Lakshman Perera to move the mosque from the place where it is now situated , and that another place will be found for it , which had been rejected by the mosque Board of administrators. It is after this , the attack had been launched.
The police had met the mosque administrators on the 19th and requested not to hold the Friday (today ) congregation. The mosque Board had refused to abide by this instruction as Friday Jummah prayers is very important for the Muslims. Later when the Muslims were holding their prayers , Ven. Inamaluwa Sumangala Thero with a crowd of about 500 persons have gone and conducted themselves in a most unruly manner hindering the Muslims in their prayer activities and damaging a part of the mosque. Consequently the Muslim devotees who were inside the mosque had been subjected to grave fears of potential attack. This violent group had damaged the goods within the mosque. The Police and army who were around had made no attempt to avert the attack.
Sumangala Thero had claimed that on the 300 acres land which was given to the Govt. , places of worship of other religions are being erected . He had warned ‘don’t make my blood boil’.
Meanwhile All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulema Organization had addressed a letter to the President Mahinda Rajapakse condemning the forcible entry of the group of intruders into the mosque premises , which can result in a breach of peace . The letter had therefore urged the President to take appropriate action to avert this potentially disastrous situation whose authors are the Sumangala Thero and the group.
Incidentally ,about four months ago another mosque in Anuradhapura was similarly attacked and destroyed.
Although inciting racial and religious hatred is barred by the SL constitution , and those found guilty are punishable under the penal code , so far these prohibitions have not been effective against the majority group.

Mosque attack : Those in top rungs of Govt. behind it – Muslim Congress Secretary and M.P. Hassen Ali
(Lanka-e-News-20.April.2012, 11.50PM) Muslim Congress Secretary and M .P Hassen Ali told Lanka e News that the Muslim mosque which had been in existence for the last 50 years at Dambulla coming under attack while the army and police officers were standing idle and watching is clearly because they are being supported by those at high places in the Govt.
Ven. Inamaluwe Sumangala Thero who had been arousing communal hatred for the last one week , had gone with about 500 persons and chased away the Muslim devotees while they were at Jumma prayers today (20), Friday , and caused damage to the mosque. Even the goods inside the mosque had been damaged. While all this attack and damage were being inflicted , the police and army around had taken no action to halt the violence and amused themselves . Later the police had acted only to seal the mosque premises.
Subsequently , the police had made a public announcement that the Kovil and the mosque in Dambulla shall be evacuated. This directive is from the top, the police had further openly stated.
Hassen Ali pinpointed that if the places of religious worship of the minorities are being attacked while the police and army are idly watching , it implies that they are supporting the marauders and providing security to them , instead of the law abiding people.
Speaking further , Hassen Ali lamented that the Govt. received the support of the Muslim countries in respect of the US resolutions presented against the SL Govt, at the Geneva conference. His party as well as the Muslims made a great contribution by speaking to those Muslim countries and inducing them to vote in favor of the SL Govt, at the Geneva conference.. Hence it is very strange that the Govt. is behaving in this manner despite all those actions taken supporting the Govt. He charged the Govt. of protecting and supporting these marauders and racialists .
Another Muslim M.P. whose name cannot be revealed speaking to Lanka e News said, the Govt. which is in utter desperation being unable to solve the dire problems , economical and otherwise , is trying to score plus points by stoking communal and religious animosity to earn cheap popularity and political gains. Body of youth abducted by white van which commenced its operations on new year day found
(Lanka-e-News-19.April.2012, 11.55PM) The body of Sivalingam Sivakumar (18) who was abducted by the criminal white van ( reported by Lanka e news Sinhala version on 17th , under the heading ‘white van starts operations on new year day’) at Thondamanaru district, Vadamarachchi, Jaffna on new year day had been discovered this morning from a well located in a paddy field in the district where he resided.
When Sivalingam was returning home riding a bicycle after visiting the Kovil (Hindu temple) on new year day ,he was abducted by the white van. The body of this youth who was loved by all those of the area bore tell tale marks of severe battery and assault, reports say.
It is most noteworthy that this body had been discovered on the day when the Indian Parliamentary delegation which is currently in SL was scheduled to tour Jaffna today. In other words , what the ruling regime is trying to convey clearly to India is , ‘no matter what you say , we will continue abducting and killing Tamils’.
It is over 11 years since Jaffna was released from LTTE administration , and it is nearly three years since the war was won. Yet the army administration in the north is still being carried on strongly. Under such circumstances the ruling regime cannot disclaim responsibility on these abductions and killings. This MaRa regime administration is most brutally and ruthlessly abducting civilians and killing them in the south in much the same way as in the north .
Even the medamulana murderers can wear the official army label when committing crimes. They are not responsible even to the army commander . A Tamil estate set fire to by extremists as Sinhala–Tamil New year ends : On eve of arrival of Indian delegation is most notable
(Lanka-e-News-16.April.2012, 11.45PM) No sooner the Sinhala Tamil new year which aims at fostering national peace and harmony in the country ended than a group of extremists who intruded into an estate named Dilithuru in Elpitiya , Galle where Tamil workers reside had set fire to their houses while looting their possessions , and caused mass scale destruction and disaster, according to reports.
This tragedy had occurred yesterday night.
It is specially noteworthy that this arson and looting had been committed yesterday when an Indian Parliamentary delegation was scheduled to arrive in SL today to probe the Tamil national issues.
These ruthless extremists have first set fire to 9 houses of the poor Tamil estate workers. These extremists have also set fire to the three wheelers and motor bikes belonging to these Tamils and looted the gold , cash , televisions etc. which were in the houses of the victims.
An Army soldier residing at the Dilithura district who had returned to his village for the holidays had met the Tamil workers living in their village and threatened them saying , he should be addressed by the Tamil villagers as ‘Mahathmaya or Sir’.
It is believed that this arson and looting were committed on the Tamils because they had shown reluctance to obey the soldier’s instructions. This soldier had later arrived at the Dilithura estate and brutally assaulted the youth who did not address the soldier as ‘Sir’ within the youth’s house itself. Following this assault a dispute had arisen between the two parties. Subsequently , a group of about 30 individuals had entered the estate and committed this criminal arson and looting.
The Villagers allege that it was an officer of the Army by the name of Saminda Kumara who had led this criminal operation . They also claim that a loss amounting to approximately Rs. 90 lakhs had been incurred due to this tragedy wantonly inflicted by the army who had behaved worse than underworld gangs.
Four Sinhala youths who have supposedly received injuries owing to this conflict are admitted to the Elpitiya Hospital for treatment. Their names are : Dilan Buddhika, Ruwan Kumara ,Dinesh Sampath and Manjula. Among them , Manjula is an Army soldier.
As always , the Elpitiya police had not been able to arrest a single individual from yesterday night despite the magnitude of the tragedy.

Meanwhile , in another incident ,the house in Batticaloa of Ilangoven Kandhipan who is an engineer holding an Executive position in the UN Organization was attacked with a bomb by a group yesterday night. Sinhala prisoners cut their Tamil counterparts with blades at Galle jail on new year day
(Lanka-e-News-17.April.2012, 11.55PM) On the New year day , that is on the 14th , the Tamil prisoners in the Galle prison had been viciously attacked by the Sinhala counterparts. The Sinhala prisoners have cut the Tamil prisoners with blades, according to reports.
The media had not reported on this incident. When the TNA M.P . However when TNA M.P.Ariyanendran had inquired from the Prisons Commissioner , the latter had admitted that there had been such an incident. He had stated that an investigation is being conducted into this attack. Ariyanendran had requested that the Tamil prisoners be immediately transferred to the Batticaloa prison , on security grounds as there is a grave threat to their lives.

Necks of Father of ahimsa and the Founder of scouts movement broken
(Lanka-e-News-07.April.2012, 9.30PM) The statues of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of ahimsa campaign , and Sir Baden Powell, the founder of the Scouts movement located near the Clock tower at Batticaloa had been decapitated yesterday night by a group of extremists , according to reports.
Moreover . this group had damaged another two statues situated near two Schools in Batticaloa causing grave losses.. The two statues thus damaged are of Swami Vipulanandar , a Hindu social worker and Pulavar Periyathamby Pillai , a Tamil poet. As always , no suspects have been arrested yet.
The residents who are baffled ask , how these destructions could have taken place without the suspects getting caught when the whole of Batticaloa town is abounding with security personnel who are on duty even in the night.
The statue of Mahatma Gandhi had been erected as far back as 50 years ago.. Even during the period of the most bitter racial conflicts nobody tried to destroy this statue which did no harm to anybody .
Interestingly it was President Rajapakse who inaugurated the 100th birth anniversary of the Scouts movement at its jamboree held in Dambulla. That was on the 1st of April 2012. Hence , decapitating the statue of the founder of the scouts movement four days later on the 5th is not only most repugnant but also a poor reflection on the President , for whoever who did this had disgraced the country and its leader by this barbaric act (if the leader is not directly involved).
